Protect it from sharp objects, heat and unnecessary UV exposure &#x2014; and hang it so it swings freely above the ground.<hr data-start="207" data-end="212">Handle with care: 5 quick tips<ol data-start="246" data-end="1034"><li data-start="246" data-end="392">Avoid sharp and pointy objects Keep your hammock away from keys, knives, tools, zippers, thorns or sharp stones &#x2014; they can damage the fabric.</li><li data-start="394" data-end="543">Keep distance from fire, embers and cigarettes Sparks or heat can melt nylon very quickly. Stay well away from campfires, grills and cigarettes.</li><li data-start="545" data-end="719">Avoid long, direct sun exposure UV light can fade and weaken materials over time. If you won&#x2019;t use your hammock for a while, store it dry instead of leaving it outdoors.</li><li data-start="721" data-end="880">Hang it correctly: &#x201C;swing above the ground&#x201D; Hang your hammock so it swings freely above the ground. This helps prevent dirt, abrasion and moisture damage.</li><li data-start="882" data-end="1034">Shoes off (if possible) Shoes bring dirt and small stones onto the fabric and increase wear. Barefoot or socks are usually more comfortable anyway.</li></ol><hr data-start="1036" data-end="1041">FAQCan I leave my hammock outside permanently? For short periods that&#x2019;s okay, but leaving it outside long-term (sun/moisture) reduces its lifespan. It&#x2019;s best to store it dry after use.Why is keeping distance from fire so important?
